This Leader Story features Park Hyun-jung,
CEO of WiseOnMedia Co., Ltd., a global music edutech specialist. Drawing on her
music major and over 20 years of performance and teaching experience, CEO Park
Hyun-jung is creating differentiated content that allows children to learn
music easily and enjoyably. In particular, *‘GoDoongDoongSymphony’*, which
combines animation and games, is gaining attention by presenting a new paradigm
for music education accustomed to lecture-style classes.

Please describe your role. What specific responsibilities
do you currently handle at your workplace? (Recent workplace for job seekers)
As CEO of WiseOn Media Co., Ltd., I am
responsible for the company's content planning, overall management, and general
operations. I led the development of *‘GoDoongDoongSymphony’*, creating
animations by weaving stories into a music curriculum and expanding this into a
game format. This structure allows learners to understand concepts through
hands-on experience. We aim for children to learn naturally through ‘stories
and experiences’ rather than just listening to lectures.
What do you consider your primary competitive advantage?
(Your core competency)
My greatest competitive advantage is my
background as a music major with over 20 years of experience in performance and
education. Building on this foundation, I designed content that delivers
essential education to children effectively and engagingly. Following the
step-by-step learning in Godongdong Symphony naturally enables students to read
sheet music and further expands into various musical activities. This principle
is similar to learning to read and then freely reading books.
What was the biggest challenge you faced during your
work, how did you overcome it, and what was the outcome?
Developing educational content in a new
genre involved many trials and errors. Particularly, since experts in animation
and gaming often lacked musical understanding, conflicts arose during
collaboration. To resolve this, we conducted foundational music education
together to enhance mutual understanding. As a result, the development team
gradually acquired musical sensibilities, leading to higher-quality outcomes.
Consequently, content quality improved, and internal teamwork became
significantly stronger.
What are some ways to gain recognition at work?
(Including your own know-how)
I aimed to achieve two goals
simultaneously: ‘educational effectiveness’ and ‘entertainment value’. It
wasn't easy, but I believe the process of ultimately realizing this became the
catalyst for recognition. Additionally, I fostered a horizontal atmosphere
within the company where anyone could freely propose ideas. Ideas born in an
environment where diverse opinions are respected came together to complete the
Godongdong Symphony, and I believe this collaborative culture and leadership
led to recognition.
How do you predict your role will change in the future,
and why?
Music education goes beyond simple arts
instruction, significantly impacting brain development and emotional growth.
Research has shown that playing an instrument enhances concentration,
creativity, and social skills. Moving forward, music education will expand
further through the integration of this scientific evidence with digital
technology. I also aim to develop next-generation music content tailored to the
global educational environment, delivering the joy and benefits of music
learning to more teachers and students.
Finally, I hope everyone can experience the
happiness and inspiration music brings, leading to a fulfilling life.
